Originally built as a ski lodge, the park's restaurant is very appropriately rustic for this mountain park.  The slopes below were originally going the be the ski slopes.  However, they had a hard time figuring out how to get people to the top when it snows!  The Blue Ridge Parkway is often closed in the winter, during the best skiing weather.
