As you step out of the tower onto the viewing platform, you are greeted with this specacular view of the Cane River valley.  Owned by a private hunting club, it is under conservation easement to prevent it from ever being developed.  The sharp peak on the opposite ridge is Big Butt.  An excellent view back toward Mt. Mitchell can be had from there. Go left to see the view in the next picture.
